Beaches
Cayo Cruz is a long and narrow island (about 25 km long) oriented North-South, part of the archipelago Jardines del Rey. About 90% of its eastern coastline is lined with pristine beaches, while the west coast is dominated mainly by salt marshes and mangroves. The beaches of Cayo Cruz are made of extremely fine white sand, and are bathed by turquoise and crystal-clear waters. Calm waters and an entrance to the water with sandy bottom and gentle slope provide ideal conditions for swimming and water sports.Beaches are subdivided into seven sections, Playa Cara, Playa Onda, Playa Sigua, Dorada, among others.
The coastline is divided into several beach sections, such as: Playa Cara, Playa Onda, Playa Sigua, Playa Dorada, etc. The hotel zone, located in the center and north parts of Cayo Cruz, is lined with continuous beaches stretching for several kilometers; to the delight of people who love taking long walks along the beach.
In September 2017,Irma a category 5 Hurricane swept through the Jardines del Rey archipelago, delaying the opening of the new tourist destination Cayo Cruz. This major hurricane even changed the configuration of the island by creating two new channels to the south of the hotel zone, thus separating the islet into three sections. Since then, one of the openings has been sealed and a canal has been built to connect the marina to the Atlantic Ocean. The fact remains that the southern sector of the island cannot be accessed by walking from the hotels, at least for the moment. It would be a walker's paradise, as there are kilometers of pristine beaches.

The Cuban archipelago Jardines del Rey (King's Gardens) is already a well-known tourist destination. The great beauty of its beaches is the main attraction that attracts the traveler to these cayos. To the west of Cayo Cruz are Cayo Paredon, Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, popular island resorts that took off in the early 1990s.
In Cuba all beaches are public, but lounge chairs, sun-shades and palapas can be used by the hotels' guests only.
All-inclusive hotels have a nautical center on the beach, non-motorised water sports are included.

Every all-inclusive hotel offers a Beach Towel Service. It can be in your room upon arrival, or, you receive a ticket when you check-in to collect your beach towel at the Club House. You can then exchange it for a clean one as you wish during your stay. Before leaving the hotel you must return it to get your ticket back (needed at check-out). If you have lost your towel, you'll have to pay a fee (usually 15 to 20 USD).
